Award Criteria

OVERVIEW

NJM Insurance Group is celebrating 100 years of membership in the National Safety Council (NSC) and to mark the occasion, NJM will provide a scholarship to five local students. Graduating high school seniors attending Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT) and applying for a related program in BCIT’s continuing education program will be eligible for a $2,000 scholarship to be used toward their program of study. This program highlights NJM’s longstanding commitment to workplace safety and training to ensure that the next generation of workers have the proper skills to succeed and remain safe.

BCIT Mission

The Burlington County Institute of Technology community cultivates a positive, student‐centered environment where learners develop a tool‐kit of career and technical education skills aligned to realworld application, and the ability to successfully transition from school to career. BCIT students develop a level of mastery in preparation to become college and career ready, while participating in learning opportunities which provide the ability to obtain stackable, industry recognized credentials, college credits, and a depth of knowledge aligned to multiple career major pathways.

RECIPIENT CRITERIA AND SELECTION

In order to demonstrate this award program’s goal of supporting workforce development and encouraging continued education to ensure the workforce is adequately trained, NJM will award these scholarships to students accepted to and enrolled in a program of continued studies with BCIT’s adult education program.

Interested Candidates Must:

  • Be identified as a graduating senior (class of 2020) seeking post-secondary training experiences in Advanced Manufacturing, Architecture & Construction, Health Sciences, Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics

  • Submit a complete application packet and commitment to attend post-secondary training experiences at the Burlington County Institute of Technology Adult Education Program

  • Consistently demonstrate safety best practices aligned to the trades and OSHA requirements

  • Maintain a B or better average within their chosen Career and Technical Education trade area

  • Model exemplar characteristics of school citizenship and the mindset to practice Career Ready Practices

  • Participate in community and/or school based involvement
