Why Choose BCIT?
WE ARE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER HIGH SCHOOLS
BCIT helps students acquire the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in the worlds of work and higher education.
We provide competency based education in over thirty (30) Career Majors, which gives students an opportunity for advanced career placement with an employer at a higher rate of pay.
In addition, students receive all the academic course work necessary to enter the college, university, or other post-secondary institution of their choice.
OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN A CAREER MAJOR EXPLORATORY PROGRAM
The Exploratory Program allows students to sample several Career Major areas and make an informed choice for their high-school experience.
Each new student will have four exploratory opportunities in Career Majors during the first semester of his or her initial year at BCIT. Students will select four career majors to explore. They will spend about 10 days in each of the areas getting an overview of the career, practicing entry-level skills, and learning what it takes to be successful in that Career Major.
At the conclusion of the fourth exploratory cycle, the student and his/her parent/guardian, will have the opportunity to select first and second Career Major choices.
WE HAVE A JOB PLACEMENT PROGRAM
The Burlington County Institute of Technology provides job placement services based upon students' interests, desires, aptitudes, and abilities. The focus is to assist in the placement of graduates into high quality employment in the occupations for which they have been trained.
Job placement is a commitment that BCIT makes to business and industry. We offer high quality workers who have been appropriately trained in the attitudinal and technical skills required for success in the workplace. Proficiency profiles are completed on all graduates documenting their skill proficiencies in their Career Major.
OUR STUDENTS CAN EARN COLLEGE CREDIT IN HIGH SCHOOL
Here is a list of College Acceleration Program (CAP) through a partnership between BCIT and Rowan College at Burlington County.
WORK-BASED LEARNING AT BCIT OFFERS STUDENTS EMPLOYMENT WITH A CAREER LADDER
Students who have completed the minimum number of competencies required in their career major are offered carefully supervised work opportunities. These students attend school for their academic subjects. The other part of the day is spent working at a job in their Career Major. This work experience allows students to practice their skills and to have real world experience and pay.
