BCIT Summer Assignments 2026
π Why Summer Work Matters
At BCIT, we believe learning doesnβt stop in June. Summer assignments in Math and Language Arts help students:
Prevent learning loss over the break ("summer slide")
Review essential skills to start strong in September
Build confidence with key topics aligned to their grade level
Stay engaged with reading and problem-solving
For incoming 9th graders, summer work is required and will count as the first homework grade of the school year.
For all other grades, it is strongly recommended to complete the work outlined below to reinforce foundational skills and prepare for fall. In addition to the recommended math and ELA assignments detailed below, we also encourage all students to dive into reading this summer!
