"The Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Westampton is underway with a big 39,000-square-foot expansion to boost its career training programs in auto technology, logistics, and diesel technology.

The project aims to prepare students for high-demand jobs, and county leaders have already seen the progress firsthand.

Burlington County Commissioner Tom Pullion, State Senator Troy Singleton, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, and Westampton Deputy Mayor Odise Carr took a tour of the construction site.

Also joining the group was Dr. Ashanti Holley, Superintendent of BCIT and the Burlington County Special Services School District, and other school board members and administrators.

Together, they explored the building site to see how the campus is being transformed and what’s in store for the students who will benefit from these exciting changes.

The Westampton campus is expanding with new classrooms, an updated logistics training warehouse, and a new diesel engine workshop; its first major update since 2004, refreshing the facilities for today’s needs.

Work started last year, and everything is on track to be ready for students when the fall semester rolls around.

This is an investment in the future of BCIT and the students who walk through its doors.

Commissioner Pullion, who is a big supporter of vocational education, couldn’t be more excited about the impact this expansion will have.

He highlighted BCIT’s reputation as one of New Jersey’s leading schools, known for effectively preparing students for careers in high-demand sectors such as engineering, automotive repair, computer programming, and logistics.

The new expansion will enable BCIT to double its capacity for several programs, offering students additional opportunities for practical training.

Pullion made it clear that this is all about setting students up for success in real-world jobs right after graduation.

Dr. Holley, for her part, echoed Pullion’s enthusiasm, adding that the expanded facilities will also help the school meet the growing workforce demands in these industries.

She stressed that this investment in career and technical education ensures BCIT remains a leader in preparing the next generation of skilled professionals.

State grants, provided through the Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act, are covering most of the $14 million needed for the BCIT-Westampton expansion.

Established in 2018, this act earmarked about $350 million for the expansion of county vocational schools as part of a wider $500 million bond referendum that New Jersey residents voted to pass.

The legislation was strongly supported by Senator Singleton and Assemblywoman Murphy, who both sponsored the bill.

They’ve been instrumental in ensuring that schools like BCIT have the resources to provide top-tier education and training.

For Senator Singleton, this project provides opportunities for students to get career-ready.

Assemblywoman Murphy echoed this sentiment, pointing out how BCIT offers high school students and adults a path to success through quality education and hands-on training.

Both legislators are pleased to witness state funds making these projects a reality.

As construction continues and the fall semester draws closer, BCIT-Westampton’s expansion is shaping to be a game-changer for the school and its students.

It’s an exciting time for the school, and if this expansion is any indication, the future is looking bright for BCIT students and the industries they’ll go on to serve.

With this investment in education, BCIT sets the stage for the next generation of skilled professionals to make their mark."
