Cosmetology

Our cosmetology program is designed to prepare students for the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology exam and licensure in a FULL time or PART time classroom setting. Throughout the course students will learn:

  • Core Cosmetology Skills:

    • Hair: Shampooing, cutting, styling, coloring, chemical treatments (perms).

    • Skin Care: Facials, shaving, skin care treatments.

    • Nail Care: Manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements.

  • Safety and Hygiene:

    • Sanitation and Sterilization: Proper sanitation and disinfection techniques to maintain a clean and hygienic work environment.

  • Professionalism:

    • State Laws and Regulations: Understanding and adhering to all relevant state and local regulations.

    • Professional Ethics: Maintaining professional conduct, client communication, and ethical business practices.

    • Shop/Salon Management: Basic principles of salon management, including client relations, inventory management, and customer service.

  • Related Sciences:

    • Basic anatomy and physiology, skin disorders, and hair and scalp conditions.

  • Comprehensive Training:

    • 1,000 hours of instruction to ensure students develop the necessary skills and knowledge.

    • Focus on achieving competencies in each area required for licensure.

    • Includes preparation for the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology exam.

Additional Information: High School diploma or GED required upon program completion for state licensing examination. Course cost DOES include supplies and textbooks. Students are responsible for purchasing their own uniform: black scrubs.

September – June (1000 hours)

Monday - Thursday 8am to 4pm

Twilight Part-Time Evening Program

September - March of the following year (1000 hours)

Monday - Thursday 4pm to 9pm
